David
Smail works part time as an NHS clinical psychologist, having retired in 1993
from his post as head of clinical psychology services in Nottingham. He holds
the honorary post of Special Professor in Clinical Psychology at the University
of Nottongham. He has thought and written about psychological approaches to treatment
for many years and his most recent book How to Survive Without Psychotherapy,
was published by Constable in 1996. His principal hobby over the past five years
has been collecting grandchildren. See foreword.
