Hugh
McKenna RMN, RGN, D.Phil, BSc(Hons), DipN (Lond), Adv Dip Ed RNT., is a senior
lecturer and co-ordinator of nursing research in the School of Health Sciences
at the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland. He has a particular interest
in quality appraisal in mental health care and in the theoretical basis for nursing.
His outside interests include, travel, playing and listening to music and reading
biographies. He is married to a nurse and has two children, Saoirse and Gowain,
and they live five miles north of Belfast. See chapter
