Jeffrey
Schaler, PhD., is an adjunct professor of justice, law and society at American
University's School of Public Affairs, Washington, D.C.; adjunct professor of
psychology at Montgomery College, Rockville, Md.; and teaches psychology for John
Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md. A psychotherapist since 1973 and third-degree
black belt in Korean marital arts (1988), his hobbies now include long-distance
swimming. He lives in Silver Spring, Md. See chapter
