Barker PhD RN FRCN is Professor of Psychiatric Nursing
Practice in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Newcastle, England. In
his clinical practice he is most involved with people in depression and psychosis.
He has wide ranging research interests, but is mainly interested in human questions:
What is personal meaning in mental distress, and what do people need psychiatric
nurses for? See chapters 1, 24,
